SM Player doesn't play

Postby Mr Problem » Tue Feb 28, 2012 8:38 am

SM player doesn't play some of my mkv files. When I check the logs it says "file not found". With VLC player the files play without a problem. I already downloaded the most recent version of SM Player, but that didn't help. What could be wrong?

Which operating system are you using? Could you paste the full log?

Whadda ya know?

I noticed in the log that the folder the files were in was called "Season?" . But the actual name of the folder was Season I (with a Roman 1). When I changed the names from Season I and II to Season 1 and 2 they suddenly played!

Strange..................

I have the same problem. First tried the full 32 bit version and put a DVD in the drawer. I clicked on the obvious things first, like play DVD ......nada / zip. I uninstalled that version and tried the older stable version. Same results. Definitely not a plug and play program. Trying to run this in Windows XP professional (SP3). This isn't anything like Audacity (just for audio). Audacity really works. I think having a program that works without a lot of fooling around is a good start. Some people just don't have the time.

To play a DVD you have to go first to preferences and select your DVD drive.

Anyway smplayer is not very good to play DVDs. It works better with other kind of media.
